The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many new challenges to the medical community regardless of discipline. Hospitals across the country have had to reorganize rapidly to prepare for and handle the acute care issues ahead. Governmental recommendations currently advise cancellation of all mass gatherings over 50 people. Many provinces have also restricted travel for health care professionals and for physicians to remain available or redeploy to meet the anticipated need.

As a result, the Steering Committee has determined that cancelling the 2020 Canadian Surgery Forum (CSF) in Vancouver is the only possible decision, thereby protecting the health and safety of our delegates, as well as ensuring the ability of our surgeons to continue to deliver much needed care.

Preparing for the CSF involves the time and effort of a great many individuals including our conference manager, committee chairs, speakers, industry partners and exhibitors. We are deeply disappointed that we cannot deliver the 2020 CSF in Vancouver as we had planned. We realize that CSF provides the annual medium for surgeons and industry to gather to exchange ideas, further clinical knowledge and research, grow their networks and connect with colleagues and friends. And while we are unable to meet in 2020, we are confident this is best for our patients and the communities we serve.

Abstracts, Hotel & Travel Instructions:

  • All abstracts submitted have not been judged and will be ‘released’ back to the authors/submitters. These abstracts can be submitted to other medical conferences this year as well as the 2021 CSF.

  • Please DO NOT contact the hotels to cancel your booking if you made your booking through the CSF website. It will automatically be done for you.

  • Please contact your travel agent/airline to discuss airfare cancellations.

We thank our partners, exhibitors and members for their patience and understanding in this time of uncertainty. Further information will be forthcoming over the next few weeks via email as well as on the CSF website.
